Starting out as a factory and producing high-performance boards for years, it now stocks homegrown boards as well as the leading brands. Raglan Surfing School. Past and even present national surfing champions often work as instructors at the RSS. Three-hour group and private lessons are available for beginners (NZ$89 and NZ$149 respectively, board and wet suit included). Two- to five-day Surf Adventure Packages include transport, daily lessons, and lodgings, plus other adventures, such as rappelling, paragliding, and jet-boating. "Surf dame" programs (luxury surfing retreats for women) are also offered throughout the year. You can rent gear at the RSS-operated trailer on Ocean (Ngarunui) Beach in summer or at the school itself year-round.
