A casual place to hoist a few while nibbling hearty pub fare, this is the popular spot for Gisborne locals. Stained-glass partitions separate the dining alcoves, which have brass chandeliers, dark woodwork, and green leather upholstery. The Rivers guinness pie with creamy mashed potato and the chicken calypso, baked and topped with a tangy mango sauce, are two favorites; washed down with a glass of ale, could you say no to that?
