MV Reremoana III

Fodor's Review:

From the shores of Lake Tarawera, the MV Reremoana III, a new lake cruiser, makes regular scenic runs. The three-hour cruise departs daily at 10:30, stopping at Te Ariki, the base of Mt. Tarawera, where you can picnic or swim or walk across the isthmus to Lake Rotomahana. It also includes a stop at Hot Water Beach, a D.O.C. campsite only accessible by boat. The Tarawera landing is on Spencer Road, 2 km (1 mi) beyond the Buried Village. The Landing Café has a small but varied menu and a decent wine list. A sign points to launch cruises and the Reremoana's parking lot.

  • Cost: 3-hr cruise $42.
