Fodor's Review

Built in 1909 as the Hawke's Bay County Council headquarters, this is one of the few Napier buildings that survived the 1931 earthquake, and wood paneling, chandeliers, and clawfoot bathtubs conjure up that more gracious era. At the Wine Street Restaurant you will find an array of dishes using local produce ($$$–$$$$). Churchill's Champagne Bar is decorated with quotes from the great man's speeches, and a cellar room is used for evening wine tastings.
