Fodor's Review

At this tiny museum you can look into earlier ways of life in the town. The museum contains photographic displays of the gold-rush and logging industries, good re-creations of period rooms from the 1800s, and info on the original Māori inhabitants and early European settlers. The memorial garden, with period roses and other flora that settlers commonly planted, is a nice place to rest.
