Whakatane Observatory Review
If you've a hankering to see the stars from an antipodean perspective, check out the Whakatane Observatory. With a claim to the clearest skies in the country, on a good night you can see some rare sights indeed, such as the "jewel box," a cluster of multi-colored stars near the Southern Cross. Nighttime presentations are informal and informative.
