Anglers Lodge Motel and Holiday Park Review

In a valley off the main road between Coromandel and Colville, these wooden accommodation units face the Motukawa Islands of Amodeo Bay. The beach is just over the road, it's a fisherman's paradise. The self-contained units are small and basic but clean, there is one family unit with two bedrooms, plus an assortment of one- and two-bedroom cabins and flats, peak rates ranging from NZ$80 to NZ$210 double. If you are traveling with a campervan or tent, they have sites and there are outdoor barbecues for guests. There's also a swimming pool, trampoline, children's play area, games room and boat and fish-cleaning facilities, if you get lucky. If you don't come towing your own boat you can head to the bay on a three-hour fishing trip charter (NZ$95 per person, minimum 3 people) or hire a dinghy and try your luck closer to shore (NZ$40/day). Bush walks, a creek and lagoon for safe swimming are all right here. The motel is 7 km (4½ miles) south of Colville.
