One of the valley's oldest wineries, Waipara Springs offers lunch or just a wine tasting (NZ$5). The café, in converted farm buildings, serves tasty dishes made with local foods such as olives, cheese, asparagus, and salmon. Try their antipasto platter for a sampling of each, with fresh homemade bread. These match well with their Southern Boundary Wines, top Pinot Noir, Riesling, Gewürztraminer, and Chardonnays. They also produce Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, and Rosé.
