1. Barker's
For foodie treats, stop by Barker's to try fruit chutneys, fruit syrups, sauces, spreads, and tasty jams. They do good gift boxes, and they ship overseas, too.

2. Louk NZ Clothing
Stop off at Louk NZ Clothing for a big range of designer merino wear and cool outdoor gear, for both males and females. They also have the biggest Swazi range (another hip outdoor label) on the South Island, as well as the most extensive range of socks you'll find anywhere. They're in the old post office on the main street.

3. The Tin Shed
Looking more like a shearing shed than a store, The Tin Shed is exactly that. Surrounded by farmland and animals, it is an authentic piece of rural New Zealand architecture being put to good use. Inside is a selection of lifestyle and handmade clothing. There's a good range of merino and possum-fur knits and shawls, knitwear, thermals, oilskins, sheepskin footwear, and locally produced skin-care items. This is a great spot to stock up with gifts before leaving the country, and they can arrange shipping. Watch the turn-in off the main road as traffic moves fast here.
