Powerhouse Cafe and Restaurant
Powerhouse Cafe and Restaurant Review
Now a popular café for locals, the Powerhouse building used to contain a small hydro-electric generator that supplied power to the old Queen Mary Hospital and a few street lights. It opens at 8 am with a great brunch menu to suit all tastes—from a hearty high-country breakfast to huevos rancheros to the highland fling (porridge with a "wee lick o'whisky liqueur, blow-torched to caramelised perfection"). There's home baking, and the food has a healthy, fresh feel about it with wonderful salads using local ingredients.
