Fodor's Review:
This getaway opened in 1932 as the Hanmer Lodge, when it was the largest hotel in Australasia. Stay in rooms inside the hotel or take a garden suite in among the pine trees on Jollies Pass Road; there are also villas on the rise above the hotel, around a man-made pond. The thermal springs are just a short walk away.
