Fodor's Review:
You can't get any closer to the city center than this upmarket hostel -- it's right in Cathedral Square in the former Christchurch Star newspaper building. Women travelers score with a special female-only wing called Sanctuary, where rooms come with a bit of pampering: fluffy pillows, skin-care products, and hair dryers in the bathroom. They keep the fun in-house with the Saints and Sinners bar.
