Firefighters Memorial

Firefighters Memorial Review

Local artist Graham Bennett used crooked girders from the collapsed World Trade Center in this memorial sculpture. The work is dedicated not only to the firefighters who died in New York on September 11, 2001, but also to other firefighters who have died in the course of duty. You can reach the memorial along the riverside path; sit awhile in the small park beside the Avon, not far from the central fire station. At this writing the memorial is inside the earthquake cordon but will be accessible once the cordon is lifted.
