Christchurch is proud of its strong and loyal theater following and the first thing to be rebuilt with public money after the earthquakes was the Court Theatre. It's now in a temporary home in Addington, in an old granary but much larger premises with ample carparking. The South Island's leading theater company perform everything from Shakespeare to contemporary plays by New Zealand playwrights. The Court Jesters run the ever-popular Scared Scriptless improv-comedy sessions
on Friday and Saturday nights—now New Zealand's longest-running comedy show. Check their website to see what's on.
