Christchurch Town Hall
Christchurch Town Hall Review
The Christchurch Town Hall is undergoing a NZ$127.5 million dollar restoration after being damaged in the earthquakes and isn't expected to reopen until at least 2017. When it is complete it will be part of a new Performing Arts Precinct that will include a new Court Theatre and homes for the Music Centre of Christchurch and the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra.
Christchurch City Choir. This acclaimed choir of 100 singers regularly performs with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra. The Christchurch Town Hall used to be where you'd hear them but since the earthquakes they perform at venues around the city, including the Transitional Cardboard Cathedral and Wigram Airforce Museum. Check their website or Facebook site for upcoming performances. www.christchurchcitychoir.co.nz.
Christchurch Symphony Orchestra. Christchurch Symphony Orchestra has been a Christchurch institution for more than 50 years. Currently without a permanent base it will move into the Arts Precinct when it's completed. Check their website or Facebook page for upcoming concerts. If you're here in October, the Last Night of the Proms is a night to remember. 03/943–7797. www.cso.co.nz.
