Fodor's Review:
Calling themselves "Christchurch's Original Late Night Rock Café," the Jolly Poacher serves a hearty menu. Mains from the plains, which include Canterbury rib eye and rosemary lamb, are available from 5 PM until midnight; lunch is lighter, with pizzas and snacks. Although the cuisine is contemporary, the decor is a cross between an English tavern and a Wild West saloon. Live musicians often play to a wine- and beer-drinking late-night crowd.
