No matter where you stay in Christchurch, you'll find some of the best lodging in New Zealand, from luxury hotels and lodges to fine bed-and-breakfasts to well-maintained, inexpensive hostels. The two main motel strips are along Papanui Road (the end nearest town) and Riccarton Road, both outside the city center. Reservations are most necessary in summer (December through March), on public holidays, and during rugby game finals. Christchurch has a healthy festival and conference market so the city can be full at any time of the year. More »
