Though they play at the Aotea Centre on occasion, both the New Zealand Symphony and Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra perform here more regularly. The centerpiece is the Great Hall, seating up to 1,529 people in theater style on three levels. Some say it has some of the finest acoustics in the world. It also features the recently restored Auckland Town Hall Organ, which dates from 1911 and is the largest musical instrument in the country. More intimate concerts take place in the Concert Chamber.
