With a wine list of more than 600 of the best New Zealand and international wines, this restaurant has been described as one of the best in the world for wine lovers. Owners Tony and Moira Forsyth have many vintages that are no longer available anywhere else. Spectacularly perched atop a finger of land, the restaurant commands a nearly 360-degree view. Te Whau's own bordeaux blend is much praised; you'll be able to try their chardonnay only here. You'll always get fresh seafood like the salmon house-smoked over oak and manuka (a native tea tree) wood. They also cook duck, beef, and venison to rave reviews.
