This branch of the international chain has been keeping up with the Joneses. In 2003, the Residence tower was added to the original hotel; the rooms there are brighter and larger, and all have balconies and at least partial harbor views. Corner suites have surprisingly large wraparound balconies. Then in 2004, a hushed, luxurious spa opened; among its treatments is a detoxifying wrap in Rotorua mud. For a more energetic pursuit, splash along the 25-meter indoor lap pool, which has a retractable roof.

Stayed in a one-bedroom suite in the "residence" side of the hotel at a very reasonable price (the cost of a regular hotel room). Huge balcony overlooking the harbor. Nicely outfitted rooms in the Hyatt standard. Location is about 3 blocks (downhill to) the main "Queen Street" area, with a number of very good restaurants within a 15 minute walk. Very convenient to the University and Albert Park.
