Perched on the end of Princes Wharf, the Hilton resembles the cruise ships that dock alongside it, with white walls and neutral furnishings in chic, clean-lined rooms that allow your eyes drift to the views, which are best in the bow and starboard. The hotel's restaurant, Fish ($$$$), is good, and the Viaduct Basin with its raft of restaurants is within a five-minute walk.

Recently (very early January, '14) experienced a brief Auckland corporate stay at this rather unique Hilton property. Hotel arrival was via our private rental automobile, fresh from a truly memorable New Year's holiday stay at Kauri Cliffs Lodge. Efficient check-in, with gratefully accepted upgrade to a "Bow Suite". [Should my ratings for this particular business stay appear a bit lower than expected, well, we had just stayed at that sublime
Kauri Cliffs - in her own unique way, we put Kauri Cliffs on relative par with two other all-time favourites of ours, The Siam in Bangkok, and the Amanpuri on Phuket.] Our Hilton Auckland suite was blessed with quiet and lovely harbour views. And, we truly savoured our balcony. [And a delight to still have the loved one along, before her departure back home to Singapore, and mine later that day for SFO via NZ8 for more meetings and checking on the residence. And quite the pleasant surprise, that NZ8 business class service, Auckland -> San Francisco. Flew upper deck, on a cherished B747 - so miss flying Singapore Airlines' (retired) B747s in J and F for work and occasional holiday.] A most enjoyable business dinner for six one evening at the Hilton's "FISH" restaurant. Lovely time. (Advance reservations suggested, particularly for best harbour viewing.) Efficient check-out for departure to AKL for our respective flights. Very first Hilton Auckland business travel stay for me (us) and good fortune, not the last. Enjoy.
