Fodor's Review

First to plant grapes on Waiheke were Kim and Jeanette Goldwater, whose eponymous wines have earned a reputation for excellence. They donated the vineyard to the University of Auckland, and it's now home to the Wine Research Institute for post-graduate research into wine as well the Goldie Room, a fantastic eatery that offers tastings. Personalized tours can be arranged. The estate is known for the Long Lunch (NZ$85 for a nine-course degustation menu), held about four

times a year and booked months in advance.
