Western Springs

Western Springs Park is both a suburb and a park in the inner west part of Auckland. It takes its name from the lake there, fed by a natural spring. Today the park, which houses the zoo and the Museum of Transport and Technology, is home to Pacifica, the giant culture, food, and art festival that takes place in summer, generally in March. The speedway sometimes hosts rock concerts.

The lake, which is full of eels, swans, and ducks, has many surrounding paths popular with dog walkers and joggers alike. See native plants and wild fowl, including native p?keko, teal, Australian coot, and shovelers, around the shores and wetlands.

Across the road from Western Springs is the Chamberlain Park Golf Course, which is open to the public. Western Springs is a good place to read a book or have a picnic.
