Visitor Information

The main tourist resource is the Fiji Visitors Bureau. Individual offices are not prompt or reliable in returning e-mail or providing information over the phone, though the Visitors Bureau in Nadi International Airport is quite helpful. The bureau's Web site has a lot of useful information, including a list of overseas offices. It also features general island information, accommodations listings, and activities, as well as frequently asked questions, arrival/departure information, and tour operators. The site is designed to promote and sell Fiji as a tourist destination, but travelers can find useful information here as well.

The South Pacific Tourism Organization also has a general travel site for all the South Pacific countries that provides good overall information.

Online Travel Tools

There's a variety of helpful Web sites that can help you plan a safe and fun trip to Fiji. Your first stop should be the Fijian government's official Web site, which provides information on visas, immigration, public holidays, government departments, Fijian culture, and, perhaps most important, updates on the current political climate.

Fijilive, the local news Web site, is useful for getting a feeling for modern-day Fijian culture, current headlines, and daily goings-on.
