Park Hyatt Melbourne Review

Set right next to Fitzroy Gardens and opposite St. Patrick's Cathedral, this is one of Melbourne's most elegant hotels. It's also a popular choice for celebrities (such as Pink who stayed there in early 2009), though you'd never know: its slightly removed location and three entrances allow the famous to slip through unnoticed. Warm colors, rich wood paneling, and Art Deco-style furnishings adorn the rooms—all of which have walk-in wardrobes, king-size beds, Italian marble bathrooms, iPod docking stations, Nespresso coffee machines, and roomy, modern work spaces. Suites are even more luxurious, some with fireplaces, terraces, and hot tubs. The seven-level radii restaurant and bar is artsy and chic; and contemporary artworks by international talents are on exhibit throughout the hotel (some are for sale). The pool is enormous for a city hotel.

    Park Hyatt Melbourne Review

Recently (March 2012) had the privilege of staying at this serene hotel for meetings and brief holiday. Melbourne arrival and departure via Singapore Airlines: SIN-MEL-SIN. (And will say, had the supreme honour of savouring our last F-Class rides on SQ's now-retired Megatops, those memorable B747s.)

My corporate rate booking included an upgrade to a lovely 'Club Deluxe King' room. Extremely peaceful, soothing view and those always appreciated evening lounge benefits. The quietude enhanced by my (and later, our) stay occurring a few days after the always raucous Australian Formula One auto circus had departed town.

This is the second Park Hyatt property I've recently stayed at for work, the first being that long-time favourite of mine, the Park Hyatt Tokyo. The PH trains its staff well; the Melbourne crew most gracious and industrious, just like their Tokyo-based siblings.

Not exactly certain when I'll be returning to Melbourne for additional meetings; when the time arrives, will be quite pleased to be back at this special property. Many thanks, newly-acquainted PH MEL staff and friends.

    Nice but not Great

The Park Hyatt Melbourne was a very nice hotel. The minimalist rooms were very comfortable although not huge and the bathroom was very nice. Nice use of wood in the rooms. The hotel was certainly better than most, but not as good as some. The service could have been better, especially in the dining room and the food was not exceptional. Overall the stay was pleasant and enjoyable.
