Purnululu (Bungle Bungle) National Park
The most popular walking trails are in the south of the park, where the famous "beehives" are located. From Piccaninny Creek car park you can hike in to Cathedral Gorge; the walk takes about an hour. Take a 20-minute detour on the Domes Walk to see more of the famous sandstone "beehives." If you have more time, you can follow the Piccaninny Creek walk into Piccaninny Gorge, following an eroded riverbed and sandstone ledges. This will take all day, but you can return at any time. In the north of the park there are walks to Echidna Gorge (about one hour), where dinosaur-era livistona palms cling to the cliffs and the gorge narrows to about 3 feet across, and Mini Palms Gorge, a rock-strewn gorge again filled with livistona palms. At the end there is a viewing platform overlooking the valley. Allow an hour for this walk.
