Fodor's Review

The gorge slices through the MacDonnell Ranges, revealing dramatic rock layering and tilting. The gorge was cut by the sporadic Finke River, often described as the oldest river in the world. Here the river forms a broad, cold, permanent water hole that's perfect for a bracing swim.

left very disappionted

We loved Glen Helen when we stayed there a couple of months ago, however our second time was terrible. We booked in early to there restaurant and when we arrived on Friday and made sure we where booked in for Saturday night. They showed me the booking book and I seen two other booking for the same night. We arrived early on Saturday for dinner and where told that our table was outside, I challenged this and the waitress told me that they don't do

our size tables inside, I said that we where here two months earlier with the same amount of people. She didn't say anything else and lead us to the outside table, we where placed on a table with plastic chair, it was cold and we still had to pay $38 dollars for a scotch fillet hmmm. I then wrote a message to the manger to explain my disappiontment, as it was very busy I gave it to a staff member to forward onto them. We had dinner and whislt listen to the local entertainer, was approach by a male manager to talk to us about what I had written. He the began to justifie why we where put out the back I challenged this and said I only wanted to air my disappiontment about where we where seated. I said it would have been nice to know that we where to be seated outside on plastice chairs. He the went onto say that restaurants have difficult customers and we must be one of those. I felt upset by what he said and walked away. This manager was rude and little did he know I had grow up in the hospitality industry and owned a restaurant and would never treat a customer the way he did. I beleive the manager had been drinking which didnt help. He also accused my father of wanting to burn down his tents, "thats what every grandfather does in front of his five grandchildren NOT" my father said lets go to the tents and put that big log on the fire to keep warm They need to look at his manage style and maybe keep him away from customers.
