Longitude 131° Review

Longitude 131° is set on its own in the desert 3 km (2 mi) from Ayers Rock Resort and accessible only by private transfer. This is the be-all and end-all of Outback luxury, and the price is steep (though it is an all-inclusive experience). Fifteen "tents" that pop out of the desert like a colony of perfect white domes make up this unique, award-winning resort, which caters to a maximum of 30 guests at any one time. Each tent has floor-to-ceiling sliding-glass doors for a panoramic view of the rock from the king-size bed. The excellent, discreet staff provides a customized turndown service, stocking your minibar according to your specifications. Gourmet meals using local and seasonal produce are served in the Dune House, which also contains a formal lounge with an extensive library and an self serve bar of top-shelf liquors. The resort also runs Table 131, a Sounds of the Silence dinner only for its guests. No children under 13 allowed.
