Buoyed by mineral wealth and foreign investment, Perth now has high-rise buildings dotting the skyline, and an influx of immigrants gives the city a healthy diversity. Some of Australia's finest sandy beaches, sailing, and fishing are on the city's doorstep, and seaside villages and great beaches lie just north of Fremantle. The main business thoroughfare is St. George's Terrace, an elegant street with a number of the city's most appealing sights. Perth's literal highlight is King's Park, 1,000 acres of greenery atop Mt.
