Fodor's Review:

Learning the principles of science is a painless process with this museum's stimulating, interactive displays ideal for all ages. Exhibits in the former 1890s electricity station that once powered Sydney's trams include a whole floor of working steam engines, space modules, airplanes suspended from the ceiling, state-of-the-art computer gadgetry, and a 1930s art deco-style movie-theater auditorium.

This is a typical Science and Industry Museum found in many cities. It's presentation of ideas, concepts, and science are geared all ages. I even had fun next to some of the little kids!
There are several sections unique to Australia such as the history of shopping from simple stores to cataloges to department stores and how these affected the average homes (you get to walk through them) over that time. There is an area of Aborigine Pride and background. Many of the "firsts" of most industrialized nations are found here in perspective to how it affected Australia.
If you want unique Aussie experiences you may pass on this one, but it would be a mistake. Here you see how they affected and integrated with Australia, not just what these mechanical things were.
