From the 1830s onward, ship passengers who arrived with contagious diseases were isolated on this outpost in the shadow of North Head until pronounced free of illness. You can access the station only as part of a guided tour; there's a guided tour that departs from Manly Wharf and a three-hour evening ghost tour (the station reputedly has its fair share of specters) that departs from the visitor center at the Quarantine Station. The ghost tour includes supper, and reservations are essential. Both tours are led by rangers from the National Parks and Wildlife Service, caretakers of the site.
