The motto of this beautiful guesthouse is "Come home to the Chelsea"—and it won't be long before you're wishing it were your home. Occupying adjoining Victorian houses on a quiet, leafy street between Darlinghurst and Rushcutters Bay, this B&B is luxurious and warmly inviting. Rooms are either deluxe, done in a French provincial style with fireplaces and frosted glass bathrooms, or smaller and more contemporary, with shared facilities. Room 13 has a private courtyard with a fancy fountain; Room 7 is the largest of the contemporary units, with iron-trellised windows. The four rooms without private facilities are a great value (A$94 a night), and are only steps away from two shared bathrooms. You can use the modern, well-equipped kitchen to do your own cooking—although a Continental breakfast is included.

I stayed here in January for about 5 days. I loved it! Close to the bus stop which goes every 15 minutes to Circular Quay, and also nearby the restaurants at King's Cross.
My only negatives: a steep staircase, so pack light, int'l travelers, as there's no elevator; also, no A/C, just a ceiling fan, so I fell victim to some very warm evenings. Other than that, great value, courteous staff, will recommend to Sydney newbies!
