Regarded in its heyday as the "finest house in the colony," this 1835-39 mansion retains little of its original furniture, although the rooms have been restored in Georgian style. The most striking feature is an oval-shaped salon with a winding staircase, naturally lighted by glass panels in the domed roof. The view, from the front-facing windows across Elizabeth Bay, is stunning.
