Sydney Cove

Fodor's Review:

Bennelong Point and the Sydney Opera House to the east and Circular Quay West and the Rocks to the west enclose this cove, which was named after Lord Sydney, the British home secretary at the time the colony was founded. The settlement itself was to be known as New Albion, but the name never caught on. Instead, the city took its name from this tiny bay.
