Kangaroo Island Lodge Review
The island's oldest resort faces beautiful Eastern Cove at American River. Rooms overlook open water or the saltwater pool; the most attractive are the "waterview" rooms, which have mud-brick walls, warm terra-cotta tones, and king-size beds. You can taste some of Kangaroo Island's bounty in the restaurant (A$22-$29), one of the island's best. Two great choices are panfried scallop risotto and grilled Kangaroo Island whiting. It's 39 km (24 mi) southeast of Kingscote.
