With wallabies and possums treating the grounds as their own domain, this eco-friendly retreat is everything a wildlife-loving traveler could want. Rooms in the low-slung log courtyard buildings have recycled Oregon pine furniture; private rear decks in the two corner suites open onto thick banksia scrub. Family-friendly one-bed apartments and motel-style rooms share the barnlike Lodge. Rain is the only water source, and showers are solar heated. The dining room ($$) serves Mod-Oz fare that uses many island products; the kitchen also prepares picnic lunches. The gas pump here is the last one for 35 km (21 mi).
