Shops in the City Center are generally open Monday-Thursday 9-5:30, Friday 9-9, Saturday 9-5:30, and Sunday 11-5. In the suburbs shops are often open until 9 pm on Thursday night instead of Friday. As the center of the world's opal industry, Adelaide has many opal shops, which are around King William Street. Other good buys are South Australian regional wines, crafts, and Aboriginal artwork. The trendiest area to browse is King William Road in Hyde Park, a 20-minute walk south from Victoria Square.
