Adelaide Arena. You'll find nothing but net at the home stadium for the Adelaide 36ers of the National Basketball League and the Adelaide Lightning of the Womens National Basketball League. Located in Findon, an inner western suburb of Adelaide, Adelaide Arena is a privately-owned multipurpose indoor sports stadium. The NBL season runs from October to early March; playoffs are in late March, early April. Adelaide Oval. The stadium received a state-of-the-art upgrade in 2013 and is now the dual home for Australian Rules Football and cricket AFL—South Australia's most popular winter sport. The Aussie Rules season runs March to August and teams play on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday; finals are in September. Clipsal 500. For wheel-to-wheel racing the Clipsal 500, also known as the Adelaide 500, is an acclaimed annual motor racing event for V8 Supercars, held on the streets of east end Adelaide. The track is a shortened version of the former Australian Grand Prix circuit. Serving as the opening round of the V8 Supercars Series, the event is held in early March and routinely attracts more than 200,000 spectators for four days of racing and concerts. Coopers Stadium. Also known as Hindmarsh Stadium, this is a multipurpose venue and the first purpose-built soccer stadium in Australia. It's the home of the Australian A-League soccer team, Adelaide United. The national A-League season runs from October to March; finals are in April. Holden St., Hindmarsh, SA, 5007. 08/8208–2222.
Netball SA Stadium. For a taste of the popular Commonwealth women's sport of netball, head to this specialist netball facility, which hosts matches of the Adelaide Thunderbirds in the Trans-Tasman ANZ Championship, the National Australian National League, State League Subway Cup, and some international matches. Tour Down Under. The first stop on the world cycling calendar, the Tour Down Under attracts riders from all over the world as part of the UCI Pro Tour. Outside of the Tour de France, the event attracts the biggest crowds in the world for eight days, taking in metropolitan and regional South Australia.
