Adelaide's parks, flat terrain, and uncluttered streets make it a perfect city for two-wheel exploring.
Linear Park Mountain Bike Hire. You can rent 21-speed mountain bikes by the hour or for A$30 per day and A$80–A$100 per week, including a helmet, lock, and maps. They're open daily 9–5 in winter, 9–6 in summer, or by appointment. You can also hire paddleboats to use on the Torrens River from here, and buy tickets to ride on the Popeye—Adelaide's famous 40 minute cruise along the river. City of Adelaide Golf Club. A 10-minute walk outside of the city, the City of Adelaide Golf Club—reputed to be one of the most picturesque golf settings in the country—runs one short (par 3) and two 18-hole courses. You can rent clubs and carts from the pro shop. Greens fees are from A$21 weekdays and A$24.50 weekends for the north course, A$25 weekdays and A$30 weekends for the south course. Playing hours are dawn to dusk daily. The Dolphin Boat. Youngsters—and the young at heart—will love a cruise on the Dolphin Boat, which allows you to swim with the cute and friendly animals. The dolphins and tour guides have developed a close relationship over the years, so you're guaranteed to get up close. In fact, if you don't get into the water to swim with the dolphins, they will refund the difference between the watch and the swim. SA Aquatic & Leisure Centre. Located next to Marion Shopping Centre, this new, state of the art aquatic and recreation facility is designed to bring elite aquatic sport such as the 2012 Australian Olympic Swimming Trials to South Australia. However, the FINA-accredited pools, waterslides, and health club are open to visitors of all ages; there's even dedicated kiddie pools for the little ones. 443 Morphett Rd., Oaklands Park, SA, 5043. 08/8198–0198. www.saaquatic.ymca.org.au.
