The Wave Resort

89–91 Surf Parade, Broadbeach, Queensland, 4218, Australia

This ultramodern high-rise apartment resort is one of Broadbeach's most luxurious. Its beachfront location translates into superb ocean or Gold Coast and casino views (try whale watching from your balcony!). Early-morning sun floods east-facing apartments, so be sure you book one with blackout drapes if you're a late riser. Sleek, spacious one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments and luxe sub-penthouses (31st floor and above) all have private, furnished balconies designed to maximise the sweeping views. Each is well equipped, with a full kitchen, quality neutral-toned furnishings, flat-screen TVs (including one in the master bedroom), and firm beds. Those staying eight days or more get a mid-stay mini-service (daily servicing costs extra). Though the beach is close by, there's a well-equipped gym, sauna, and steam room in the complex; a large, pristine infinity-edge pool, deckchairs, and an impressive stainless-steel BBQ on level four. A guest lounge, heated "sky pool," Jacuzzi, and second BBQ area are on level 34. Supermarkets, a post office, and several eateries lie seconds away via a stomach-droppingly fast elevator. Reservations can pre-book theme-park tickets and park transfers for guests.
