Getting Here and Around

To get to the Sunshine Coast Hinterland from Brisbane, follow the Bruce Highway north for around 35 km (22 miles), taking the Glass House Mountains Road exit. A 10-km (6-mile) drive along Glass House Mountains Road brings you to the quaint Glass House Mountains Village. Access Glass House Mountains Lookout, 10 km (6 miles) from the village, via Glass House Mountains Tourist Route. Drive 10 km (6 miles) north along Glass House Mountains Road from the village to reach Maleny.

From Maleny, take the Landsborough-Maleny Road for 10 km (6 miles), turning right at Maleny–Montville Road, to get to Montville. From Montville it's a five-minute drive west on Western Avenue to Kondallilla National Park. A further 10 km (6 miles) drive northwest brings you to Mapleton, from which it's a 12-km (7-mile), 15-minute drive east to Nambour, en route to the Sunshine Coast.

From Nambour, a 20-minute drive east along Petrie Creek Road and David Low Way brings you to the mid-Sunshine Coast town of Maroochydore. Or drive 20 minutes north along the Bruce Highway to reach Eumundi, 20 km (12 miles) away. From here it's a half-hour, 20-km (12-mile) drive east along the Eumundi–Noosa Road to Noosa, the northernmost town on the Sunshine Coast.

From Nambour it's an 8-km (5-mile) drive north along the Nambour Connection Road, then Old Bruce Highway, to reach Yandina. From Brisbane, it's an hour's drive north along the Bruce Highway: take the Coolum/Yandina exit.

It's around 60 km (35 miles) to Glass House Mountains Village; just under 100 km (60 miles) to Montville; and nearly 110 km (65 miles) to Maleny from Brisbane. Driving time is 60 minutes to the Glasshouse Mountains; around 1½ hours to Maleny and Montville, and a further 15-minute drive to Nambour and another 12-minute drive to Yandina. From the Sunshine Coast most parts of the Hinterland are less than an hour's drive inland.

You'll find few banks and money exchanges around the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. Get cash in advance from ATMs in larger coastal towns such as Noosa. Alternatively, several are available at service stations along the Bruce Highway, or at stores and pubs in the Hinterland.
