Fodor's Review

One of your best chances to see the endangered Southern cassowary, a prehistoric emu-like bird, is at Birdworld Kuranda. It's also home to 350-plus birds from nearly 80 species, more than 25 of them native to vanishing rain-forest areas—flying freely in a gigantic aviary, many of them tame enough to perch on your shoulders. Wear a hat and sleeved shirt: birds' claws are scratchy.
