This true beachfront property just south of Palm Cove has its priorities right: the sensitively designed, sleekly appointed bungalows and restored pioneer's cottage have silky wood floors, custom furnishings, and high-tech appointments (flat-screen LCD TVs, free VOIP-enabled Wi-Fi). Huge private balconies overlook either the rain forest, one of the property's two freeform lagoon pools, or a private white-sand beach strewn with driftwood. Air-conditioning is environmentally sensitive and all rooms are oriented to maximize seclusion and views—as are the beachfront café/bar, open-sided restaurant, and bar. On-site activities include various guided nature walks, spa treatments, sunrise yoga and sea kayaking, beach barbecues, browsing the library or boutique, relaxing at the day spa, and serious lounging. If you must venture off-site, the helpful concierge and Adventure Desk can arrange customized excursions and transfers via car or helicopter to Cairns, Palm Cove, and the airport.
