Heritage Lodge & Spa Review

Nestled in World Heritage-listed rain forest beside Cooper Creek, this secluded resort is an antidote to stress. Recently refurbished queen and family rain-forest cabins (each with a double and three single beds) are simply but comfortably appointed, with high ceilings, cool-to-the-touch tile floors, ceiling fans, TVs and DVD players, bar fridges, tea- and coffee-making facilities, screened windows and ceiling fans, Wi-Fi, and courtyards or balconies. There's a small, pretty pool, but most guests prefer the clear natural swimming hole, frequented by fish and turtles. Everything you need is right on-site: a good all-day restaurant (with a solid kids' menu and limited room service); a well-stocked bar; a day spa offering massages, facials, body wraps, reflexology, and Reiki treatments; and service-oriented staff who can help you book just the right activity or tour. There are walking trails nearby and staff can arrange off-site excursions. Thornton Beach and the Daintree Ice Cream Company are close by, too—if you can tear yourself away.
