The latest addition to Hamilton Island's accommodations is easily its most luxurious. Qualia's architect-designed complex of luxe freestanding pavilions has the tranquil, decadent ambience of a high-end Southeast Asian resort. Sited well away from the main resort complex and marina, Qualia caters to a privileged few. Guests enjoy exclusive access to a pair of infinity-edge pools, private beaches, two gourmet restaurants—one open for breakfast and dinner; the other at lunch—and a private dining room, two bars, and an on-site spa, gym, library, and boutique. Gloriously appointed guest pavilions and a lavish beach house, handcrafted from Australian timbers, stone, and glass, harmonize beautifully with their tropical surroundings. Expansive, flow-through lounge areas with designer furnishings and high-end entertainment systems (with free cable movies) open onto large private decks affording stupendous views. Windward Pavilions also have their own plunge pools; the extravagant Beach House has a dining room for 10 and its own guesthouse, 39-foot infinity pool, and gardens. Dozens of resort facilities and services—gourmet meals, room and concierge service, non-alcoholic drinks, the use of two Hobie cats and a raft of other water-sports equipment, wireless Internet, 24-hour chaffeur service and buggies to get to the resort complex (if you can drag yourself away)—are included in the rate, as are guided walks, kayaking and snorkeling tours, beach drop-offs, culinary masterclasses, and more. Gourmet package rates include breakfasts and dinners. Diving, fishing, sailing, scenic flights, golfing tours, onsite spa treatments, private beach picnics, and catered, crewed cruises are available at extra cost.
