Déjà Vu Restaurant Review
Alfresco tables and Balinese-style dining pavilions flank an infinity-edge pool at this classy Airlie eatery. The usual surf'n'turf options are replaced by inventive, seasonally driven mod Oz-Mediterranean dishes. Follow an entrée of oysters, coconut-crusted prawns, or mezze plates with crispy-skin mango chicken breast or bluefin tuna braised in white wine and brandy. Alternatively, go with the Moreton Bay bugs (crayfish) with a deconstructed Caesar salad, or kangaroo fillet with an Asian-style noodle salad. Freshly made desserts (such as a trio of seasonal fruit tarts or a gluten-free choc-strawberry soufflé) are delicious. Vegetarian and children's meals are available, the coffee's a cut above the norm, and the wine list is extensive. At lunch, tuck into fresh seafood dishes, interesting salads and gourmet panini for under A$25—preceded, perhaps, by a swim. Sunday's eight-course epicurean lunches with live entertainment are legendary (A$44.50, beverages additional).
