Cockatoo Hill Retreat Review

The simple but elegant treehouses at this impeccably-run, eco-friendly boutique retreat have king-size, handcrafted Balinese-style beds, billowing white mosquito nets, romantic underfloor lighting, and sea-breezy balconies overlooking the infinity-edge pool (with pool bar), the Coral Sea, and a rain forest teeming with wildlife—frogs, birds, and butterflies—with lots of walks nearby. Breakfast baskets include fresh fruit and home-made jams, but after that you're on your own foodwise (so bringing your own car, or at least provisions, is a must). There's a small library and pool table, and a cheaper, fully self-contained retreat nearby (A$245-A$275 per night). Your hosts can help arrange tours, restaurant bookings, and reef trips.
