Ochre Restaurant Review
Local seafood and native ingredients take top billing at this upscale yet relaxed Carins institution that specializes in bush dining. Try the popular Australian antipasto platter: 'roo terrine, emu pâté, and crocodile wontons, with fine Antipodean wines to match. Most dishes employ native foods and seasonal ingredients: sample wild-caught barramundi or emu fillet with bush tomato, or order a vegetarian, Australian game, or seafood platter to share (A$30, A$50, and A$69 per person, respectively). Ochre also offers an array of tasty Pacific Rim dishes on separate Japanese, Chinese, and Korean menus. The signature dessert, wattle-seed pavlova with Davidson plum sorbet and macadamia biscotti, makes a fine finish.
