Fodor's Review

This refined riverfront hotel next to the City Botanic Gardens offers an elegant retreat from busy city life. The soaring lobby, with its floral arrangements, artwork, sweeping timber staircase, and expanses of glass, is instantly impressive and overlooks a leafy courtyard. Guest rooms, decorated in neoclassical style, enjoy clear views over the river, cable TV, and Wi-Fi (extra). Four dining spots include the hotel's signature restaurant, Brasserie on The River, and lively

Kabuki, considered the city's best teppanyaki restaurant. The Chocolate Buffet High Tea (A$49 pp), served alfresco on the river view terrace, is also the perfect indulgence. Arguably the most famous of the many celebrities who've stayed here is HM Queen Elizabeth II, who visited in 2002.
