All kinds of Australian wildlife make their homes at Kuranda Koala Gardens, but the namesake marsupials are the starring attractions. It's a compact park, ideal for time-strapped visitors, where a relaxing 20-minute walk brings you face to face with koalas, wombats, wallabies, freshwater crocs, and lizards, as well as snakes in a walk-through enclosure (where no glass separates you from them). There's an additional A$15 fee to have your photo taken with a "teddy," as koalas are known locally.
